Let's Kite - We Predict the Future!

website

New feature (Beta) on the Let's Kite map, we tell you where it's going to ride for the next 3 days.

This is the first step of the complete revamp of the weather forecasts on Let's Kite, we added 4 buttons at the bottom of the map. The live button corresponds to the current map view that you know, and the J+1, J+2,.. buttons display in a simplified way if a spot is rideable or not.

For a spot to be considered rideable, for now it needs:

  • Min 8 knots of wind
  • 3 hours of consecutive ride possible
  • Correct wind direction
  • Correct snow depth (for snowkite spots)

The forecasts are updated 4 times a day to take into account the latest trends. For spots that take into account tides, this is not yet implemented in the forecasts.

Two more pieces of information:

  • If the buttons do not appear on your map, you need to register on the website!

If your favorite spot does not appear in the forecasts, it means we don't have enough information. Don't hesitate to go to the spot's page and complete the information, it will then appear in the forecasts.

Edit of 15/3:

I just made a few corrections (The service is still in Beta phase):
- There was a problem with snowkite spots where a spot had to have at least 10m of snow to be valid. This is now fixed.
- There was a bug in the algorithm that made it only work if there was wind all day or the last 3 hours of the day. This is now fixed.
- Kitesurf spots are now valid starting from 8 knots of wind over a minimum period of 2 consecutive hours. Snowkite spots are 7 knots, 2h minimum, and 10 cm of snow.
The forecasts seem more realistic to me now.
