To display real-time wind data on our site, we had to develop a web application called Eole. Eole is actually a series of web services that collect wind data from each of our providers every 2-3 minutes, gather weather forecasts for each spot 2-3 times per day, and check every 30 minutes if a rider with the Zef application is on the water. The "real-time wind" section of the site is a significant cost factor for us. First, we had to pay a top-class developer to create a reliable and robust real-time beacon acquisition system. Then, since things are complex, each beacon network and sometimes even each beacon has a different display and export system, which required many adaptations. Additionally, throughout the year, protocols (APIs) can change, which inevitably leads to adaptation and maintenance costs for us. One of the new features of the V2 site is that we invested in a dedicated web server. This allows us to better adapt it to our needs and serve content to you more quickly.
