Westenschouwen is a wild North Sea beach on the western coast of Schouwen-Duiveland, flanked by the spectacular Boswachterij Westenschouwen — a unique Dutch dune forest of pine trees, dunes and dune lakes. The beach is wide and offers an impressive view of the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier.
This is the only official kitesurfing spot on the Schouwen-Duiveland North Sea coast. The area is designated as a "sportsstrand" with a defined kite zone. Note: kitesurfing is forbidden at the Watergat area (seal habitat) and along all other stretches of the Schouwen coast.
