Albuen is a sand spit on the west coast of Lolland, forming an extremely shallow lagoon at the mouth of Nakskov Fjord. It's one of Europe's largest waist-deep water areas — ideal for learning. Best spot on Lolland-Falster in northerly winds. Natura 2000 area.
Open all year round
Beginner
Flat, extremely shallow water — most areas waist-deep at most. About 200 m walk from the edge before reaching knee-deep water. Fine sand bottom with about 5 large stones to be aware of. In strong winds, water can be pushed out of the lagoon.
PROHIBITED from 1 October to end of February (bird protection). Water access only from the dike (not from the Albue Isthmus) to protect reed fields. Very small launch area. In strong winds, the lagoon can partially empty — long walk through mud. Equipment trolley recommended.
