Saltburn-by-the-Sea is an elegant Victorian seaside resort in northeast England (Cleveland/North Yorkshire). The long north-facing sandy beach is well exposed to north and northeast winds. The spot offers decent waves with northerly swell. Spectacular setting with the Victorian pier and cliffs.
Parking at the top of the cliffs with a funicular to get down to the beach. Additional parking at the bottom near the pier (limited).
Hazards
Victorian pier to be absolutely avoided. Rocks at the base of the cliffs. Possible rip currents. Unstable cliffs — do not sail too close. Cold water all year round.
