Overview

Thunersee (Lake Thun) is a large alpine lake in the Bernese Oberland at 559 m altitude. It benefits from regular thermal winds in summer, with a prevailing west to north-west wind (the Oberländer) in the afternoon. The lake offers an exceptional alpine setting with the snow-capped peaks of the Oberland as a backdrop. Conditions are variable and can become demanding on Föhn days.
