Kitesurf, wingfoil and windsurf spot at the Giffaumont access point on the Lac du Der-Chantecoq (51/52), the largest artificial lake in France at 4,800 hectares. This entry point is located near the Giffaumont sailing school and nautical club, on the south-eastern shore of the lake. Works best from March to early September when the lake is full. Outside this period, prefer the north basin near port d'Arrigny.
Intermediate
Open all year round
Kite practice is regulated on the Lac du Der — check current rules with the port d'Arrigny club before heading out. Respect bird protection areas around the lake shores. In winter, the lake level drops; the north basin (near port d'Arrigny) remains navigable. Watch for other water users.
Works with all wind directions during the main season. North is possible but irregular, giving flat conditions — relocate to Giffaumont or Nuisement for better access. South-West and West are the most common productive winds. Wind is not consistently strong; come on F4+ days for best sessions.
