Kimil Lake is a kitesurfing spot near Nizhnevartovsk, in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (Yugra), Western Siberia. This freshwater lake provides a water body for kitesurfing in this oil-producing region of Siberia.
The lake offers an open water body, calmer than the nearby Ob River. Shores are partly sandy. The spot is relatively sheltered from currents compared to river spots.
Season is short, June to early September. Water warms up in summer (15-21°C). Winds are variable. Wetsuit recommended. Spot suited for beginners and intermediates thanks to calm lake conditions.
