Thorsminde is located on the west bank of Nissum Fjord, on a 900m wide peninsula between the fjord and the North Sea. It's one of Europe's windiest spots.
The launch is particularly appealing, with a vast meadow leading to the rigging area and a small sandy beach. The spot offers a huge shallow lagoon, perfect for kitesurfers of all levels. It's popular with German and Danish riders, but there's so much space you'll always find your own area.
Best season from April to September. Equipment rental and courses available at Thorsminde campsite. Alternative activities: canoeing, kayaking, SUP.
Huge shallow flat water lagoon. Water can have some chop depending on wind direction and strength. Bottom is mainly sandy. Shore zones can be very shallow in places. Ideal for freestyle and learning.
Beginner
Open all year round
Parking available at the campsite. Campervan parking possible. Campsite facilities nearby. Kitesurf and SUP courses available, equipment rental at the campsite.
Shallow waters and nature reserves limit ridability in west and east winds. Fishing nets to the south of the spot. Wetsuit required.
Almost all wind directions work, but NW to NE and SE to SW offer the best conditions. Pure west wind is strong and gusty. The spot is one of the windiest in Europe with consistent winds year-round.
