Overview

Brean is a long sandy beach in Somerset, on the Bristol Channel, south of Weston-super-Mare. Huge and flat beach with an extreme tidal range. The spot faces west towards Wales. Brean Down (headland) provides a spectacular natural landmark.

Hazards
Extreme tidal range of the Bristol Channel — very fast and dangerous rising tide. Soft sand and mud. Violent tidal currents. Vehicles on the beach. Brean Down with strong currents around the headland.
