Overview

Lago di Lugano (Lake Lugano) is a lake in Ticino, the Italian-speaking canton of Switzerland, at 275 m altitude. The lake is shared between Switzerland and Italy and offers a Mediterranean-like setting unique in Switzerland. Thermal winds develop in the afternoon during summer, with a prevailing southerly wind. The water is warmer than in lakes north of the Alps thanks to the Ticino microclimate.
