Overview

Tynemouth Longsands is a long golden sandy beach in Tyne and Wear, in northeast England. One of the best surf spots in northern England. The east-facing beach faces the North Sea with regular waves. Spectacular setting with Tynemouth Priory overlooking the beach.

Numerous surfers — sharing necessary. Rip currents. Rocks at the ends of the beach. Currents at the mouth of the Tyne to the south. Cold water.
