On the water

IJmeer — flat to light chop. No swell. Deep water from shore (no standing area). Fresh/salt mix water. No tidal influence. Year-round. Cold in winter. Good for foil and freestyle.

Hazards

NW/W/SW/N/NE all work. S creates wind shadow from IJburg buildings and dykes. Summer thermals can amplify wind. Year-round. Best spring/autumn. Ideal after-work spot for Amsterdam riders — 20 min by tram from city centre.
