Sommarøy is an exceptional kitesurfing spot located on the island of Sommarøy, approximately 36 km from Tromsø. It is one of the most photographed spots in Northern Norway, with its white sandy beaches and turquoise waters reminiscent of the Caribbean, but in an Arctic setting. Dominant winds come from the southwest and west. In summer, the midnight sun offers 24-hour sailing conditions. In winter, the northern lights illuminate the sky during sessions. The body of water is relatively sheltered between the islands. Thick wetsuit essential even in summer.
