Kapustniy Mys (Cape Kapustniy) is a kitesurfing spot on the west shore of Lake Baikal, in Irkutsk Oblast. This rocky cape provides access to Baikal's immense water body with interesting wind conditions.
The spot benefits from Lake Baikal's characteristic thermal winds. The Barguzin (east/northeast wind) crosses the lake and arrives with force. The Kultuk (southwest wind) runs along the lake. These winds are often regular and sustained in summer.
Baikal water is very cold (6-15°C) and exceptionally pure. Thick full wetsuit or semi-dry recommended. Season runs from June to September. The spot suits intermediate to advanced riders due to distance from shore and wind power.
