Southwest spot of the Vallée de Joux. Small beaches, not much space. Avoid in summer on sunny days (swimmers). This spot is best suited for foil kites, limited space. Prepare the kite on the grass and unwind your lines into the water. Be careful, launch is next to the restricted zone. Do not sail below La Lionne (name of the river with its mouth at this location)! Alternative launch (advanced level): Along the houses bordering the lake on the Les Bioux side with water launch of the kite. Prefer this technique when the lake level is low as otherwise there's no space on the shore. Beware of many rocks, they love getting caught in our lines.
The lake level can help or hinder getting into the water. More information on the exact lake level at this link: https://www.hydrodaten.admin.ch/fr/2007.html (Federal Office for the Environment). No beach: Lake level at 1004m. Beach of about 3-4m: Lake level at 1003.5m.

The wind in the Vallée de Joux is not always easy to predict and it can be perfect for two hours then, by changing a few degrees, become gusty. The southwest wind is often weaker than on the Lake Geneva basin. Nice thermal in summer, often invisible on MeteoSwiss.
Be careful, in southwest the departure is at the edge of the kite-restricted zone. So no drifting allowed :-)
