Razende Bol is one of the most legendary and extreme kitesurf spots in the Netherlands — an isolated sandbar in the Waddenzee, off the northern tip of Noord-Holland, reachable only by kitesurfing across the Marsdiep channel from Huisduinen (Den Helder). Epic flat-to-choppy water, wind from all directions, absolute wilderness.
⚠️ Expert only. No rescue. No facilities. Crossing requires strong conditions and expert skills. The Marsdiep channel has some of the strongest currents in the Netherlands. The sandbar itself offers unique conditions — surrounded by the Waddenzee with views of Texel. A bucket list kite experience for the most experienced Dutch riders.
Launch from Huisduinen beach (Den Helder, Noord-Holland). Cross the Marsdiep channel — strong currents, expert crossing only. GPS: Razende Bol sandbar, Waddenzee. No ferry access. Must return by kiting back across Marsdiep. Go with experienced local riders who know the crossing. Check wind and tidal windows carefully.
Waddenzee sandbar — flat to choppy, tidal. Surrounded by water. Completely exposed. All wind directions. No standing area except on the sandbar itself. Cold year-round. Wetsuit 5/4mm+ essential. Salt water. Strong tidal currents around sandbar perimeter.

Expert spot — Razende Bol is an offshore sandbar with no rescue services. Only reachable by kiting from Huisduinen (Den Helder) — strong Marsdiep channel currents crossing. North Sea + Waddenzee currents combine. No facilities on sandbar. Self-rescue essential. Expert minimum — do not attempt alone. Tide-dependent crossing. Strong wind required but conditions can change rapidly.
All wind directions work on the sandbar itself. The critical factor is the Marsdiep crossing (N/NW/W best for crossing from Huisduinen). Expert only. One of the Netherlands' most extreme and iconic spots. Best conditions: strong SW/W (reaching the bar) + enough wind for safe return. Never alone.
