Little Island State Park is a kitesurfing spot in Sandbridge, the southern part of Virginia Beach. This park offers access to a wilder, less developed beach than the main Virginia Beach oceanfront. The Sandbridge area is preferred by local kitesurfers as it offers more space and fewer restrictions. The east-facing beach benefits from the same winds as Virginia Beach with a much more natural atmosphere. Back Bay is right behind, offering a flat water option.
Atlantic Ocean with waves and swell. More natural, less developed beach. Sandy bottom. Sandbars at low tide. Back Bay right behind offers flat water in west winds. Cool water in spring and fall, warm in summer. Wetsuit needed October to May.
