Sam's Pond is a small body of water in the High Plains of far western Kansas, near Garden City, at 981m altitude. The flat, completely open plains terrain offers some of the strongest and most consistent winds in Kansas. Very remote spot with a wild character.

Extremely remote — no services nearby. Tornado Alley — supercell thunderstorms and tornadoes. Rattlesnakes. Extreme summer heat (40°C+). Unreliable cell coverage. Lightning. Violent and unpredictable winds possible.
