Braamspunt is Suriname's main kitesurfing spot, located on a 5 km beach strip on the Atlantic coast, accessible only by boat from the Suriname River or by helicopter from Paramaribo.

Northeast trade winds blow consistently, offering constant wind conditions. The Atlantic water has strong current (the Guyana current can reach 4 knots at peak) and brown, muddy water. Foiling is recommended with a robust setup due to the risk of hitting fish or driftwood.

The spot suits advanced riders due to strong currents and total isolation. The beach is a nesting site for sea turtles. The environment is wild with mosquitoes, caimans, and snakes in the swampy area.
