Hejlsminde is a spot on the east coast of Jutland, in the Little Belt (Lillebælt), south of Kolding. The beach faces east toward the island of Funen, with the 8-12 km wide strait providing good fetch for easterly winds. Blue Flag bathing zone in summer — kitesurfers must ride outside the designated swimming area. Hejlsminde marina is nearby.

Shallow Little Belt waters with sandy, stony and seaweed-covered bottom. Water is shallow far from shore (40-50 cm far out, 1-1.5 m within the first 200-400 metres). Flat to choppy conditions, with chop up to 1-3 m possible in strong winds. Lillebælt currents present, moderate near shore but potentially strong further out in the navigation channel.
Little Belt currents: the strait generates significant currents, especially in the navigation channel. Blue Flag bathing zone in summer — respect the area reserved for swimmers. Hejlsminde harbour channel with boat traffic. Nature protection zone (fredningsbælte) around the Hejls Nor inlet and harbour extending 500 metres on each side. Mixed bottom with stones that can be hazardous in very shallow water.
