⚠️ Den Oever is NOT an authorized kitesurfing location. The village of Den Oever lies at the North Holland end of the Afsluitdijk on the Waddenzee — a strictly protected Natura 2000 area. Kitesurfing has been explicitly reported as a violation at Den Oever Zuiderhaven and in the direction of Vattrop. The OD NHN actively enforces these rules.
The official nearest alternative is Kornwerderzand on the Friesland side of the Afsluitdijk, which works with all wind directions and is suitable for advanced riders.
⛔ KITESURFING FORBIDDEN — Den Oever is located on the Waddenzee (Natura 2000), which is strictly protected. Both the Zuiderhaven area and the direction towards Vattrop are NOT authorized kite spots. Active enforcement by OD NHN (fines up to €250). No official kite zone exists at Den Oever.
The closest official alternative: Kornwerderzand on the other side of the Afsluitdijk (all wind directions, advanced level).
