Daechon Beach (also known as Daecheon) is one of the largest beaches on South Korea's west coast, located in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do. Famous for its annual Mud Festival, this wide sandy beach stretches for about 3.5 km and faces west toward the Yellow Sea. The beach picks up NW and W winds reliably during the cooler months.
The enormous tidal range on this coast (up to 8 meters) means kitesurfing is heavily tide-dependent. At low tide, the water recedes hundreds of meters exposing mudflats. Sessions should be planned around high tide. When conditions align, the flat shallow water provides excellent conditions for freeriding and freestyle.
