Masirah Island is a generic spot on Masirah Island in Oman, one of the most renowned kite destinations in the world. The island, located off the east coast of Oman in the Arabian Sea, benefits from legendary wind conditions. The Khareef (southwest) blows from June to September with exceptional power and consistency, often between 20 and 35 knots. It is one of the windiest places on the planet during this season. The prevailing SW, SSW and S directions offer ideal conditions on the west coast of the island. The island offers several spots suited to different levels, from flat lagoons to wave spots. The bottom is sandy with some rocky areas. The environment is wild and desert-like, with rich marine wildlife (turtles, dolphins). Accessible by ferry from the mainland or by plane. A few kite camps and basic accommodations are available. Water temperature remains warm year-round (24-30°C). A must-visit destination for kitesurfers seeking guaranteed wind.
