Bentota Beach is a popular resort beach on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka in Southern Province. The beach faces west and receives the SW monsoon winds from May to October. The nearby Bentota River lagoon also offers flat water options.

An intermediate spot. The wide sandy beach provides good launching space. Side-shore to onshore SW winds during the monsoon season. The river mouth area can offer some flat water for beginners. Sandy bottom with warm water. The area is well-developed with resorts, water sports centers, and restaurants. Can be busy with tourists and jet skis. Some water sports operators offer kite lessons.
