Gökova is a renowned kitesurfing spot in the Gulf of Gökova (Mugla province, south-west Turkey). Famous for its thermal west wind channelled by the surrounding mountains, blowing every afternoon with exceptional reliability throughout the season. Flat water, shallow lagoon — a world-class reference for thermal wind kitesurfing.

Kite season: April to October. Best months: June-August (Meltemi peak). May/June and September/October offer milder learning conditions.

Flat water, shallow lagoon — ideal for freestyle, foil and learning. No significant chop below 25 knots, onshore conditions.
Very reliable thermal west wind. The local "Meltemi" picks up around 11AM-12PM, peaks at 25-30 knots during the afternoon and drops around 6-7PM. More than 150 days of guaranteed onshore wind per season. Main direction W with natural WSW/WNW variations. Very smooth — minimal gusts thanks to the gulf channelling effect.
