Datça is a spot on the south coast of the Datça peninsula, facing the Gulf of Hisarönü (Muğla province, Turkey). The peninsula shields it from northerly and north-westerly winds, so the summer Meltem arrives here after wrapping around the western tip, predominantly as a west to south-westerly wind.

The peninsula ridge blocks NW to N directions (offshore for this south-facing coast). The Meltem wraps around the tip and arrives on the south side from WSW to SW, side-on to side-off depending on exact position. S to SSW winds are also possible under Mediterranean conditions.
