Trichardtsfontein Dam is a body of water situated at about 1634m altitude on the Mpumalanga Highveld, in the Secunda area. This dam offers a local spot for kiters from the Secunda industrial area and southern Mpumalanga. The open Highveld plains ensure good exposure to summer thermal winds.

Thunderstorms with lightning in summer — leave the water immediately when a storm approaches. No rescue service — don't sail alone. Thermal winds sometimes gusty. Submerged obstacles possible at low water levels.
Summer thermal winds from the north-west to north-east sector, developing in the afternoon. Typical strength of 15-22 knots. The flat and open Highveld terrain provides relatively steady wind. Thermals sometimes gusty, especially late afternoon with approaching storms.
