Platte Point is a kitesurf spot located on Lake Michigan, near the Platte River mouth, in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore area of Michigan. This spot offers a spectacular natural setting with the massive Sleeping Bear dunes as a backdrop. The west-facing sandy beach captures the prevailing west and northwest winds that generate waves on Lake Michigan. Preserved and wild area.

Very cold water — full wetsuit required except in midsummer. Sandy bottom. Longshore currents possible along the coast in strong winds.

Dunes can create turbulence near shore. Violent thunderstorms possible in summer. Relatively remote area with limited rescue services.
