Hasserot Beach is a kitesurf spot located on the west arm of Grand Traverse Bay, on the eastern coast of the Leelanau Peninsula, Michigan. This spot offers a sheltered water body with calmer conditions than open Lake Michigan. Grand Traverse Bay is renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters. The natural setting is magnificent with the wooded hills of the peninsula in the background.
Grand Traverse Bay water body (west arm), sheltered and offering flat water to moderate chop conditions. The bay protects from Lake Michigan's large waves. Cold water requiring full wetsuit except in midsummer (July-August). Sandy bottom with gradual depth. Crystal-clear waters allowing visibility to the bottom. Ideal conditions for freeride and wingfoil.

Boat traffic in summer with recreational boats and sailboats. Cold water with hypothermia risk in spring and fall. Violent thunderstorms possible in summer with lightning risk — exit water immediately. Frequent swimmers and kayakers along the shore. Bay can become rough quickly with wind direction changes.
