Kitesurf spot at Longue-Rive, on the Upper North Shore, between Tadoussac and Forestville. This spot is associated with Air-Lib Québec, an active kite club/school in the region. The site offers access to the St. Lawrence estuary with southern exposure. The Upper North Shore is the gateway to the North Shore, near the Saguenay River mouth and whale watching area. The river is wide (20+ km) with considerable fetch.
St. Lawrence estuary, Upper North Shore. Cold salt water (8-12°C in summer), 4/3 or 5/3 wetsuit required. 3-4m tides. Good fetch southward. Chop in south and NE wind (along the estuary). Sand and pebble bottom. Significant tidal currents in this section of the estuary. Whales sometimes visible offshore.
