Very cold water — full wetsuit required from September to June, recommended even in summer. Crystal clear sandy bottom. Conditions change quickly depending on wind direction. Spectacular dune landscape visible from the water.
Currents possible at the bay entrance in strong winds. Very cold Lake Michigan water with hypothermia risk. National Lakeshore area — respect national park regulations.
