AuSable Point Campground is located on the west shore of Lake Champlain, near Peru in New York State. Lake Champlain is a large freshwater lake between New York and Vermont, offering an excellent water body for kitesurfing. The campground has direct water access with a sandy beach.
Fresh waters of Lake Champlain. Large fetch producing chop in sustained wind. Moderate to deep depth. Sandy and pebbly bottom. No tide but level can vary with wind.

Large fetch can create big waves in strong wind. Cold waters, especially in spring. Boat traffic in summer. Sudden thunderstorms possible on the lake.
