Acme-Kite Beach is one of Michigan's most popular kitesurf spots, located on the east arm of Grand Traverse Bay, near Traverse City. This iconic spot is the gathering place for local kitesurfers and offers ideal conditions in a sheltered bay. Grand Traverse Bay, long and narrow, channels the wind and provides relatively flat water protected from Lake Michigan's large waves. Easy access with parking and spacious rigging area.

Southwest to northwest winds are channeled along the bay. Cold water requiring full wetsuit except in midsummer (July-August). Sandy bottom with gradual depth. Consistent and predictable conditions.

Boat traffic in summer with recreational boats and sailboats in the bay. Frequent swimmers and kayakers along the beach. Cold bay water with hypothermia risk in spring and fall. Violent thunderstorms possible in summer with lightning risk — exit water immediately. Bay can become rough quickly in strong northwest winds. Respect marked swimming areas.
