The Dike is a kitesurf spot on the Texas City Dike, a 5-mile long jetty extending into Galveston Bay from Texas City. This unique structure offers bay water access from both sides of the dike, with varied conditions. It's one of the most popular spots in the Houston area for kitesurfing thanks to its position in the middle of the bay offering unobstructed wind. Parking along the dike with direct water access.
Galveston Bay waters on both sides of the dike. Muddy to sandy bottom. Moderate depth. Choppy water in sustained wind. Warm water in summer. Tide influencing currents and depth. You can choose the lee or windward side depending on conditions. Good fetch in all directions.

Rocks and riprap along the dike — do not approach. Tidal currents. Heavy boat traffic (access to Texas City port). Stingrays. Sharp oyster shells. Industrial pollution possible in waters. Sudden thunderstorms. Kite lines can cross the road on the dike.
