Shallow flats around the island, sandy bottom. Flat to choppy water depending on wind. Galveston Bay water, warm in summer. Tide influencing access and depth around the island. At low tide, the flats emerge. Good conditions for freestyle.

Hazards

Access only by water — very isolated spot. No rescue nearby. Boat traffic in the bay. Stingrays. Sharp oyster shells around the island. Sudden thunderstorms with no shelter. Wind can drop, making return difficult. Bring waterproof phone and water.
