Lucky Peak Reservoir is a kitesurf spot on a Boise River reservoir, 20 minutes east of Boise, Idaho's capital. This canyon lake offers consistent afternoon thermal winds channeled by the Boise River valley. Most popular spot in the Boise area with an active kite community. Sandy Point and Spring Shores are the main launch areas. Season from May to October. Park entrance fee required.
Clear mountain freshwater. Water temperature from 5°C in spring to 22°C in summer. Canyon lake with rocky to sandy bottom. Moderate chop in thermal winds. Variable lake level depending on dam releases. Full 4/3 wetsuit in spring/fall, shorty in summer.
