Linwood Marina is a kitesurf spot located on the western shore of Saginaw Bay, Michigan. This shallow bay of Lake Huron offers more sheltered conditions than the open lake, with relatively flat water ideal for intermediate riders. The marina provides easy water access and Saginaw Bay, one of the largest freshwater bays in the world, offers a vast riding area.
Saginaw Bay water body, relatively shallow and more sheltered than open Lake Huron. Conditions are generally calmer with moderate chop rather than large waves. Northeast to east winds can create significant fetch across the full length of the bay. Cold water requiring full wetsuit except in midsummer. Sandy and muddy bottom in this area of the bay.

Shallow bay that can become very rough quickly in northeast winds. Cold Lake Huron water increases hypothermia risk. Shoals and shallow areas that can surprise riders. Heavy recreational boat traffic in summer around the marina. Violent thunderstorms possible with lightning risk. Occasional fog reducing visibility on the bay.
