Powerlines is a kitesurfing spot located on Sherman Island in California's Sacramento River Delta. Named after the power lines crossing the area, this spot offers flat water and powerful southwest thermal winds from May through October. Sherman Island is renowned for having some of the strongest and most reliable wind conditions in California, making this area an exceptional playground for kitesurfing.
Delta-style water body with flat to choppy conditions. Brackish and murky water, pleasant temperature in summer (18-22°C/64-72°F). Shorty or 3/2 wetsuit depending on season. Muddy and shallow bottom. Tidal currents run through the area but remain manageable. The thermal wind creates regular surface chop in the afternoon.
