Lake Wenatchee State Park is a kitesurfing spot on Lake Wenatchee, a glacial mountain lake in Washington State's Cascades at 565 meters altitude. This picturesque lake is surrounded by fir forests and snow-capped mountains. The state park offers easy lake access with full facilities (camping, beach, restrooms). Valley thermal winds are channeled by the mountain terrain, providing regular conditions in summer. The alpine setting is beautiful with views of the Cascade peaks.

Fresh mountain water, cool (10-18°C in summer). 3/2 to 4/3 wetsuit recommended. The lake is moderately sized with a sandy and rocky bottom. Valley thermal winds blow at 12-22 knots in summer, channeled by the terrain. Surface generally flat to slightly choppy. The lake offers sufficient space for riding with shallow areas near shore ideal for learning.
Valley winds can be gusty and irregular due to mountain terrain. Cold mountain water that can cause hypothermia. Recreational and fishing boat traffic on the lake, especially on weekends. Mountain storms can arrive quickly with dangerous lightning. Submerged tree stumps and rocks in some areas. State park swimming zones to respect. Temperature can drop rapidly at altitude.
