Advanced
Alpine lake of exceptional clarity with very cold water even in summer (12-18°C/54-64°F). A 4/3 full wetsuit is recommended. The water body can be flat in the morning and develop significant chop in the afternoon with thermals. Sandy bottom at Kings Beach, becoming very deep quickly offshore. The high altitude intensifies UV radiation.
Very cold water year-round — significant hypothermia risk. Rapidly changing alpine weather conditions with sudden summer thunderstorms. Thermal winds can be gusty and unpredictable through mountain canyons. Heavy boat traffic in summer. High altitude (1,897m/6,225ft) causes faster fatigue and intense sunburn. Riding area limited by mountainous terrain.
