Lake Hattie is a kitesurf spot on a reservoir at 2,213m elevation in the high plateaus of southeastern Wyoming, 30 km west of Laramie. This high-altitude prairie lake offers exceptionally powerful and consistent winds, channeled by the Snowy Range and Laramie Plains. One of Wyoming's windiest spots. Access via gravel road. Short season from June to September due to altitude. Isolated and wild spot.

Cold high-altitude freshwater. Water temperature from 0°C in winter (frozen) to 18°C in summer. Shallow lake with muddy bottom. Short but frequent chop in strong winds. Variable level depending on irrigation. Full 4/3 wetsuit minimum, 5/3 recommended in spring/fall. Elevation 2,213m.
Extremely powerful winds — gusts can exceed 50 knots without warning. High elevation (2,213m): rapid dehydration and increased fatigue. Violent thunderstorms with lightning in summer — exit water immediately. Hypothermia possible even in summer in strong winds. Total isolation: no rescue services, limited cell coverage. Pronghorn antelope on access roads.
