Burrows is a kitesurf spot on Lake Mendota in Madison, the largest lake in the area. Lake Mendota offers generous fetch and varied conditions depending on wind direction. Burrows is located on the southeast shore, well exposed to prevailing winds. Popular spot with the Madison kite community. Season from May to October.

Freshwater with small chop in sustained wind thanks to the lake's good fetch. Moderate to deep water. Muddy bottom. Water warms in summer but cool in spring and fall.
Heavy boat traffic on Lake Mendota in summer. Sudden thunderstorms frequent. Currents possible near water inlets/outlets. Algae in late summer can hinder riding. Respect marked swimming areas.
