Kitesurf and windsurf spot at the Bassin des Mouettes leisure lake in Lauterbourg (67), located at the German border near Karlsruhe. The spot is managed by the Base de Voile Lauterbourg (MJC section). Rigging is on a large grass area. 40 m depth — no issues for foil. Camping Les Mouettes is a 5-minute walk away. The spot is less crowded than Plobsheim and often windier, especially from the south. Annual and day membership available at the club.

Intermediate
South, South-West and West are the best directions — wind arrives clean over the open water without obstruction from the town or forest. South-East also works well. North and North-East are gusty and disturbed — intermediate level minimum required when wind is offshore from the north.
Kitesurf is only authorised through the sailing school "Base de Voile Lauterbourg" (MJC Lauterbourg section) — contact the club before coming (Sébastien Degré, 06 79 75 98 85). FFV licence required. From the north, wind blows offshore — intermediate level minimum required. Beware of obstacles near the launch zone (boats, garages). No kite allowed in gusty north-easterly conditions.
