Mokau is a kitesurf spot located on the west coast of the Waikato region, on the North Island of New Zealand. This small coastal village is at the mouth of the Mokau River, on the border between the Waikato and Taranaki regions. The beach is exposed to swells from the Tasman Sea. The prevailing winds come from the southwest to northwest, typical of the New Zealand west coast. The spot is suitable for intermediate to advanced kitesurfers due to wave exposure and potential currents at the river mouth. The setting is wild and uncrowded.
