Voula is a spot on the Athenian Riviera, on the south coast of Attica facing the Saronic Gulf. This upscale Athens suburb beach offers easy access and flat water for kitesurfing, wingfoil, and windsurfing.
Like all south coast Athens spots, Voula works mainly with the S/SSW thermal sea breeze ("Embatis") blowing in the afternoon during summer. The spot is popular with Athenians for its proximity to the city and accessible conditions.
Typical sessions from 3 PM to 7 PM with the S/SSW thermal. Very flat, protected water. Voula beach is organized (sunbeds, beach bars) — sailing zones are limited. Respect swimming zones and delimitation buoys. Ideal spot for beginners and foil progression.
Ultra-flat water of the Saronic Gulf. No significant waves thanks to limited fetch. Sandy bottom, progressive depth. Relatively clean water despite Athens proximity. Temperature: 23-27°C in summer. Some rocky areas on the sides.

Open all year round
Parking along the coastal road and residential streets of Voula. Paid parking zones. Accessible by bus and tram from Athens. In summer, parking is very difficult on weekends as Voula is a popular beach destination for Athenians. Prefer weekdays or arrive early.
Very many swimmers — strictly regulated sailing zones. Maritime traffic (ferries to gulf islands). Jet-skis and leisure boats. With NE wind (Meltemi), side-offshore conditions dangerous for beginners. Rocks at beach extremities. Lifeguards may prohibit sailing if conditions are deemed dangerous.
Dominant S/SSW thermal "Embatis" breeze, starting around 1-2 PM and peaking at 12-18 knots between 4 and 6 PM. The Hymettus mountains (1026m) just behind the coast create a strong thermal gradient that reinforces the sea breeze. During Meltemi, NE wind can wrap around the mountains and reach the coast, but it's often turbulent and side-offshore.
