Overview

Lake Lanier is a massive 38,000-acre reservoir in North Georgia, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta. This Corps of Engineers lake, created on the Chattahoochee River, is the largest body of water in the Atlanta region. With its many arms and vast open expanses, the lake offers excellent freshwater kitesurfing conditions. The wooded hills of the Appalachian foothills surround the lake, creating a beautiful natural setting. It's the primary freshwater kitesurfing spot in Georgia.
