Clear Lake DNR is a kitesurf spot on Clear Lake, Iowa's third-largest natural lake in the northern part of the state. This shallow lake offers excellent kite conditions with consistent prairie winds. The DNR (Department of Natural Resources) site features a boat ramp and parking. Season from May to October. Clear Lake is a popular summer destination with many services nearby.

Shallow freshwater (max depth ~5m). Water temperature from 0°C in winter (frozen) to 25°C in summer. Muddy to sandy bottom. Short chop in strong winds due to shallow depth. Full 4/3 wetsuit in spring/fall, shorty or rashguard in summer.
Frequent violent thunderstorms in summer with lightning — exit water immediately if sky threatens. Heavy motorboat traffic in summer, especially weekends. Shallow lake: risk of hitting bottom during falls. Blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) possible in summer — check health advisories. Snapping turtles in shallow waters.
