Overview

Traunkirchen is a spot on Traunsee, a deep alpine lake (191 m, Austria's deepest) in the Salzkammergut in Upper Austria. The lake is 12 km long and surrounded by high mountains that channel the winds. The thermal wind blows regularly in the afternoon during summer, mainly from the north. The setting is spectacular with the Traunstein as a backdrop. The water is cold and deep.
