Måde is a spot located south of Esbjerg, on the Wadden Sea (Vadehavet) coast. The spot is strongly influenced by tides, with riding conditions varying considerably between high and low tide. At low tide, vast mudflats are exposed and the spot becomes unrideable. Best sessions are at incoming or high tide. The proximity to Esbjerg harbour means maritime traffic should be watched.
Open all year round
Intermediate
Wadden Sea waters, shallow with sandy and shell-covered bottom. Flat to choppy conditions depending on wind strength and tide level. At high tide with moderate wind, lagoon-like conditions with waist-deep water. Tidal currents can be strong, especially in channels.
Extreme tides: the spot is unrideable at low tide. Always check tide tables before your session. Strong and unpredictable tidal currents, particularly in channels. Shells on the bottom and beach — booties strongly recommended. Proximity to Esbjerg harbour with commercial vessel traffic. Wadden Sea National Park regulations apply.
